How sharing works
Press the ShareHaus button on your Tidy Haus dashboard. The first time, a short introduction shows what it does.
Choose what to share
Drag files or folders from Finder or File Explorer into the list, or choose them. Each line says where the file lives.
Choose who, and what they can do
Type an email address, or pick someone you already share with. Choose Can view or Can edit, and add your own message if you like.
Press Share
Each person gets one email from ShareHaus, with your message and a link to each file and folder.
Later, you can add more files to a share, change the message, or stop sharing. Before more files go to someone, ShareHaus asks you first.

Files on your computer
Sharing from your computer is ShareHaus Pro. It comes with SafeHaus™, along with Overflow. We keep an up-to-date copy of each file you share, so nothing waits for your computer to be on. It works while your computer is asleep or away. Save the file and the people get the new version.
Works on Mac and Windows. Files in iCloud Drive are shared from their folder on your computer, as a copy.
Shared copies use your SafeHaus space. There is no separate limit.

Files in your clouds
Sharing from your clouds is ShareHaus Lite, included in every Tidy Haus plan. A file in Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox or Box stays where it is. We keep no copy, only the link, the people and their access.
A file in a synced Dropbox, OneDrive or Google Drive folder on your computer is shared from that cloud, not uploaded again.

Your computer stays closed
Sharing a file should never open a door into your computer. ShareHaus is built so it does not.
Nothing can reach your computer
The Tidy Haus app only sends, and only what you shared. There is no listening port, no tunnel and no remote access. Our servers cannot ask it for a file.
Only the files you choose
A copy of a file you share, and only that file, goes to our servers, because you chose to share it. The app tells you so before you share.
Each person's link is their own
A forwarded email opens nothing without a six-digit code sent to that person. You can cut off one person without breaking anyone else's link.
Checked before anyone downloads it
Every new version is scanned for malware before anyone can download it.
Encrypted on our servers
Shared copies are encrypted on their way to us and encrypted on our servers. They are not end-to-end encrypted, because the page has to show them to the people.
Stop sharing, and it stops at once
Access ends straight away. Our copy is deleted within 24 hours. Your own files are never touched.
You stay in control after you press Share
See every share in one list, by share or by person.
- Can view or Can edit. With Can view, people see the files in their browser. With Can edit, they can also download a copy, or edit a cloud file in its own cloud.
- See who downloaded what. The people are told that you can see this.
- Tell them when something changes. If you turn it on, people get at most one email a day about changes. It is off unless you choose it.
- Undo a bad save. Each shared copy keeps recent versions for you. The people see only the latest.
- Add more, or stop any time. Drop more files on a share or a person, change the message, or press Stop sharing.
- Can view is a deterrent, not a lock. It discourages copying, but anything a person can see on a screen can be captured.
Questions
Does ShareHaus cost extra?
Sharing files that are in your clouds is ShareHaus Lite, included in every Tidy Haus plan: we keep only the link. Sharing files from your computer needs a copy we keep up to date, so it is ShareHaus Pro, which comes with SafeHaus, along with Overflow: $7.99 a month for 1 TB. Shared copies use your SafeHaus space, and there is no separate ShareHaus limit.
What do the people I share with need?
Only the email address you shared with. They need no Tidy Haus account, no app and no password, and they pay nothing. They open the link, type a six-digit code we email them, and see everything shared with them on one page. A file in a cloud opens in that cloud, where they sign in with the address you shared with.
Does my computer need to be on?
No. We keep an up-to-date copy of each file you share from your computer, so the people can open it while your computer is asleep or away.
Do the people always see my latest version?
A file from your computer opens from the last version your computer sent, and the page says when that was. A file in a cloud opens the file itself, in that cloud.
How many emails will people get?
One email per share for each person, not one per file. To share a Google Drive file with someone who has no Google account, Google also sends its own email.
Can I share from iCloud Drive?
Yes. iCloud Drive has no way for other apps to share its files, so we share them from their folder on your computer, as a copy.
What happens if my plan ends?
Your shares stop updating but keep working for 30 days, using the last copy, and we remind you each week. After that, shares from your computer end and our copies are deleted. Files you shared from a cloud stay shared in that cloud, but the ShareHaus link stops working.
What do the people see when they open the link?
One page with everything shared with them, from anyone, with your name and your message. Every page and email has Report a file, and every report goes to a person at Tidy Haus.
