Out of space? Get it back without deleting anything.
Overflow finds the files you have not opened in years, takes them offline, and gives you the space back. Each one leaves a small file with the same name in its place. Overflow comes with SafeHaus™.
How Overflow works
Overflow is part of SafeHaus, which you add to a paid Tidy Haus plan. It is not part of the free trial.
Choose your drives
Built in, plugged in or on the network. Include the clouds you connected, or leave them out.
Set the rules
Nothing goes offline without a rule you set: how much of the disk to use, a floor for recent files, and a list of things never to touch.
Overflow frees the space
It takes the biggest files you never open offline first, and leaves a small file with the same name where each one was.
Find them by name
On a Mac, Spotlight is designed to find each one by its name. To search inside a file, use Tidy Haus's own search.
Your files stay where you left them
Taking a file offline is not deleting it. Tidy Haus never deletes.
It stays where you left it
Each file taken offline leaves a small file in its place, with the same name, in the same folder. There is no separate place to go and look in.
Same folders, same names, same Finder windows.
Still findable by name
Your computer's copy is removed only after the stored copy has been read back and matched. On a Mac, Spotlight and Finder search are designed to find the small file by its name and by the few words we put in it, usually within moments.
To search inside a file, use Tidy Haus's own search.
Use the space you already have first
Overflow looks at your drives and your clouds together, so it can tell you what you actually need.
Your clouds come first
A file that is already in Dropbox, iCloud Drive, OneDrive or Google Drive is made online-only in that service. Only files that are on no other cloud go to SafeHaus storage.
A drive you own comes before anything you buy
Overflow suggests places in this order:
- 1A drive you already own
- 2SafeHaus
- 3A new drive you buy
If one of your drives can hold it all, Overflow says so, and says there is nothing to buy.
Overflow counts only the drives it has read, so you never buy a drive on a guess and find it too small.
You set the rules. Overflow keeps to them.
Some files are never taken offline, whatever the rules.
Recent files stay put
Everything you have touched in the last 14 days stays on your computer.
System files and apps are never touched
No system file, no application, and nothing inside a package.
Small files stay local
Nothing under 1 MB is ever taken offline.
Biggest gains first
Files are ranked by how much space they give back, not only by how old they are.
A receipt you can always see
A running list of what was taken offline, when, and how much space came back, with a control to bring any of it home.
Never more than you can bring back
Overflow always shows how much space you would need to bring everything back, and never takes more offline than you have room to return.
Questions
Does Overflow delete my files?
No. Overflow takes files offline; it does not delete them. Your computer's copy is removed only after the stored copy has been read back and matched, and every change can be undone for 30 days, the same as MagicUndo.
What is left on my computer when a file goes offline?
A small file with the same name, in the same folder. On a Mac, Spotlight and Finder search are designed to find it by its name and by the few words we put in it.
Do I need SafeHaus to use Overflow?
Yes. Overflow is part of SafeHaus, added to your Tidy Haus plan. One subscription holds SafeHaus storage, Overflow and ShareHaus Pro: $7.99 a month for 1 TB. Overflow first frees space through the clouds you already use, by making files online-only there. SafeHaus storage is for files that are on no other cloud.
Is Overflow in the free trial?
No. Overflow comes with SafeHaus, on a paid plan. The first time you open it, a short introduction shows what it does. Nothing is scanned, taken offline or charged on that screen.
Which computers does it work on?
Mac. Windows Coming soon
On a computer where Thai cannot run on the device, Overflow still reports what is filling your drives and still frees space through your other clouds, but it does not take files offline to SafeHaus.
Where does the work happen?
On your computer. Scanning, ranking and taking files offline all happen there. Only the storage is on our servers.
What if I have old drives in a drawer?
Plug them in and add them. Removable drives are read one at a time, and reading picks up where it left off. Until a drive has been read, Overflow says so and does not guess what is on it.
